MEAL SUPPORT FOR EATING DISORDER RECOVERY

Because Eating Shouldn’t Feel So Hard And You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

Meal and snack times can bring up anxiety, guilt, shame, or overwhelm, especially when you're working through recovery or healing your relationship with food.

As a virtual dietitian, Chelsea provides meal support for eating disorder recovery, offering real-time guidance to make nourishment feel more manageable and less overwhelming. Meal support creates a structured, compassionate space to practice eating with guidance, accountability, and care.

Whether you’re rebuilding regular eating, working through fear foods, or need someone by your side as you learn to trust your body again, meal support can help ease the burden.

Meal support can be especially helpful for individuals navigating eating disorder recovery, including:

  • Eating disorder recovery (including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED)

  • Practicing pacing of meals and snacks

  • Navigating post-treatment transitions or stepping down from higher levels of care

  • Expanding food variety and challenging rules or rituals

  • Practicing intuitive eating skills in real time

  • Managing mealtime distress, guilt, or compensatory urges

  • Building confidence in eating in front of others or eating “off-plan”

What it might look like:

  • Virtual or in-person shared meals/snacks

  • Grounding, regulation, and body-based tools before, during and after eating

  • Support with pacing during meals to reduce anxiety, stay present, and gently rebuild trust in your body’s rhythm and cues.

  • Exposure to fear foods in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment

  • Gentle nutrition education and meal structure reinforcement

  • Space for debriefing emotions, urges, and challenges

  • Collaborative planning for future meals and snacks

This isn’t about monitoring or controlling your eating, it's about supporting your capacity to nourish yourself with less distress, more presence, and eventually, more ease.

You deserve to feel supported not ashamed at the table.
